Role:

    You are always trying to be as nice as you can be.  You have learned all the rules of proper etiquette in your day to day experience.  But when it comes to the Internet, your skills are a bit lacking.  You seem to forget what it means to be nice.
 

Task:

    Your parents are very concerned about your lack of manners when it comes to the Internet. It is time to learn some online manners. Unless you can learn some basic skills for how to use the Internet appropriately you will lose the privilege.
 

Questions:

    1.  Define netiquette.

    2.  What is the basic rule of netiquette?

    3.  What is a flame?  A flame war? How can you avoid a flame war?

    4.  Name two things you should remember about being online?

    5.  Why should you stay away from using all capital letters?

    6.  What should you do if you become uncomfortable with a topic or site you find on the internet?

    7.  What is the difference between a public and a private e-mail message?

    8.  What is an emoticon? What can you use them for?  Copy down at least two and what they mean.

    9.  List 5 items you think should be included on your Top 10 list of Internet Safety Tips.
