Look around you. Every tool or device you see anywhere was invented by some individual or by a group of people. Many inventions are born out of need. Others are discovered by accident. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to become an Expert Cyber Detective and conduct an investigation to unlock the mysteries of a technological device.
Great! You have chosen to accept the
mission. You and your assigned partner will choose an invention to research.
Your research will unlock mysteries about an inventor of a particular tool, the
purpose of the invention, and the positive and negative affects on society.

Now that you have been assigned a project partner, you are ready to begin your investigation. Let’s get started.
Assignment 1 Probing for Information
1. Read through the list of inventions below and choose a one that you mutually agree upon.

Now that you have collected the data it is time to put on your investigative hat and analyze it.
1. Open your Probing Form and locate your answers to the questions about the impact your chosen invention has on society. You will use this information to complete the Invention Analysis Chart.
2. Click here to open the Invention Analysis Chart and input the information.
3. Examine your completed chart. Discuss the most significant negative impact and write at least one recommendation for improvement. Please write your recommendation in the box under your chart.
You may keep your recommendation can be as simple. For example, add air freshener to decrease odor.
Your completed chart and recommendations will serve as the evaluation.
